thebuzzr indie | SHEPS: “THNK ABT U” (ORIGINAL)

Artist/Band: Sheps (artist)
Release Date: 02/12/20
Location: United Kingdom, London

“THNK ABT U” released December 2, 2020. It is a philosophical exploration into the realities one passes through when a strong connection with another human finishes. It represents recognizable sentiments of resentment and dread of the unfamiliar future through the tracks’ lyrics and tone.

The chorus exhilarates you, giving listeners a hopeful promise for the future as restoration from a seductive yet painful past.

“I consider songwriting to be an incredibly cathartic experience. It allows me to expiate myself from my past mistakes and truly find closure.”, Sheps says. “For me, “THNK ABT U’” is a sonic representation of a chapter in my life that I struggled to detach myself from.”

Multi-instrumentalist Sheps (Matthew Sheppard) composed the song, collaborating again with Billy Bligh.

Producing the single at his London Fields studio, the artist created a contemporary pop sound.

Heavy percussive components highlight the dread we all pass through ending relationships and healing. The experience of rebuilding comes through with its soaring melodies, rhythmic guitar pieces, and keys on Rhodes piano.

The precise style in the works of Ian Kirkpatrick and Greg Kurstin is discernible.

Sheps is planning further releases in early 2021 and arranging for live appearances later in the year.
